Command Name Function
Align Cavity
Align two cavities on the manifold.
Two cavities on same face will be aligned on the coordinate with shortest misalignment.
Two cavities on perpendicular faces will be aligned on the common coordinate.
Assembly Interface Automatically assemble all the components on to the manifold.
MDTools creates all the required constraints and assembles the components at the correct location.
Angular Connection Create connection between two cavities by an angled drill.
MDTools creates an angled drill to make the best possible connection between the two selected cavities.
Auto Dimensioning Automatically dimension all the cavity locations on all six views of manifold machining drawing.
Connect to Cavity Interactively create connections between two cavities.
Connection Check Check the connectivity inside the manifold. Easily find out the dead area intersections inside the block.
For example, locate any holes cutting outside the port area of a cartridge valve cavity.
(Un) Constrain Cavities
Constrain a cavity to another cavity on the manifold so that they can be relocated together. This entails automatic update of the coordinates of one cavity when other cavity is relocated
Un-constrain the cavities to relocate them independently.
Copy Cavity Copy an existing cavity/footprint to a new location on the manifold. All the parameters including the connectivity information will be copied to the new cavity.
Copy Multiple Copy multiple cavities/footprints simultaneously by specifying the displacement on their common coordinates.
Cut & Paste Relocate the cavity/footprint from one face of the manifold to another manifold face.
Delete Cavity Automatically delete the complete cavity/footprint. All the features used to create the cavity/footprint in Inventor will be automatically deleted.
Design Report Perform connection and wall thickness checks and automatically create a detailed design report.
Display/Hide
Cavity ID
Displays the Cavity ID at the center of cavity. This will enable user to easily identify the cavity on the manifold. Also display/hide Cavity ID of cavities on all faces / cavities on selected faces / single selected cavity.
Draw Block Draw the manifold block in Inventor based on the required manifold length, width, and height entered; or by selection of required material cross section from an existing material ‘X-section database, and input of the corresponding length.
Edit Cavity Change the non-intrinsic cavity dimensions inside Inventor. Also select the tool (Drill or Spot face tool) from tooling knowledge base. This will help you avoid use of non-standard drills and spot faces.
Edit All Parameters View and change the entire cavity dimensions and other parameters inside Inventor. Edit Also select the tool (Drill or Spot face tool) from tooling knowledge base.
Edit Under Cut Edit/change all the dimensions used for creating an under cut in a cartridge valve cavity.
Edit O-ring Groove Edit/change all dimension used to create an O-ring groove on the manifold face.
Edit Slot Edit/change the all the parameters that have been used for creating the slot.
Find Safe Area Locate position / area on a selected manifold face where a cavity can be placed to connect to a selected net.
Flush Cavities Automatically flush construction plugs below manifold surface by increasing the spot face depth of the cavity. Either flush single selected cavity or all the cavities on a selected face.
Get Wall Thickness Check the wall thickness around a single selected cavity.
MDTools will check the wall thickness between the selected cavity and all other cavities on the manifold. If the actual wall thickness is less than the specified value, the problem cavity names will be listed with the actual wall thickness shown in parenthesis.
Generate
Machining ID
Automatically generate machining ID for all the cavities on the manifold based on the selected naming option.Three naming options are provided and user can select as needed. These ID’s are used in the block machining drawing and machining chart.
Hide/Show
Cavity Center
Change the visibility of cavity center points.
Insert Cavity Select and Insert a cavity/footprint from the standard cavity/footprint library onto a selected face of the manifold.
Insert Under Cut Create an under cut in a cartridge valve cavity port.
Insert Slot Create a slot in a cavity.
Insert O-ring Groove Create an o-ring groove around a bare hole on a manifold surface.
Insert Mounting Holes Insert four mounting holes on a selected manifold face at specified spacing and distance from the edges.
Insert Offset Hole Insert an offset from cavity center drill hole into a manifold.
Insert Orifice Plug Insert an orifice plug at the bottom and center of a cavity on the manifold. MDTools automatically updates the spot face depth of the orifice cavity so that it starts from the bottom of the main cavity.
Machining Chart Automatically extract the machining data from all the cavities and create a machining chart.
Manufacturing & Tooling Check the design for manufacturing and tool limitations.
Modify Block Modify the block manifold size if needed during the manifold design process. Select a new material cross section from an existing material cross-section database, or specify the required change in manifold length, width, and height.
Move Cavity Precisely relocate a cavity by specifying the X and Y ordanates from the face origin.
Also relocate a cavity by entering the incremental X and Y displacements.
Move Multiple Move multiple cavities on the manifold simultaneously by entering a displacement along their common axis.
· Cavities on the same or opposite faces can be moved on two coordinates
· Cavities on perpendicular faces can be moved on one coordinate.
Net Display Display the nets (flow paths) with different color. This enables the user to visually check the connections within the manifold. A user can also change the color and the visibility of nets within the manifold.
Quick Connectivity Check Check for :
- Unconnected cavities/ports of cavities
- Broken nets
- Wrong connection inside manifold. Etc.
Rotate Footprint Rotate a footprint on the manifold surface.
Replace Cavity Replace a cavity located on the manifold with any other cavity from the MDTools library. A new cavity will be placed at the location of the existing cavity.
Set Manufacturing Precision Change the precision for cavity location, drill depth and the angle of angle holes.
Settings Define setting for MDTools.
· Units: Set the units as Inch or mm.
· Net Color: Set the default color for the nets, bolts holes, locating pin holes and dead area.
· Library Path: Set the library path.
Swap Cavity Swap two cavities located on a manifold. The two cavities replace each other.
Show Machining ID Automatically display the cavity ID near to the cavities in 2D drawing views.
Update Block
Update a manifold block created in MDTools 700 into MDTools 715 manifold block. All the cavities will be updated as per MDTools 715 standard.
“Not relevant for new users”
Wall Thickness Measure the wall thickness between two cavities.
Wall Thickness Check Check the wall thickness around all the cavities within the manifold. If the wall thickness between the cavities is less than the minimum specified value then wall thickness check will list in parenthesis the actual wall thickness between the problem cavities next to the cavity name.
