| Command
Name |
Function |
| Add Drill |
| Add a drill to an existing
cavity. |
| If the drill diameter
is less than the maximum Step12 diameter parameter
(defined in MDTools Cavity) then the drill is
added at the bottom of the cavity. Otherwise,
the drill is added in between the existing cavities. |
| Align Cavity |
| Align two cavities on
the manifold. |
| Two cavities on the same
face are aligned on the coordinate with shortest
distance. |
| Two cavities
on different faces are aligned along the plane
containing axis of the 'Align to cavity' and the
center point of the 'Align cavity'. |
| Auto Dimensioning
| Automatically dimension
all the cavity locations on all six views of the
manifold machining drawing. |
| Ordinate dimensions generated. |
| Color Cavities |
Shade or update
the shading of cavities on the manifold. |
| Connection Check
| Check the connectivity
inside the manifold. |
| Using this feature, easily
find out the dead area intersections inside the
block. |
| Also, locate any holes
cutting outside the port area of a cartridge valve
cavity. |
| Connect to Cavity
| Automatically create error
free connections between different cavity ports. |
| The connection information
is automatically updated in the cavity. |
| Copy Cavity |
| Create a copy of an existing
cavity/footprint on the manifold. |
| All the parameters including
the connectivity information will be copied to
the new cavity. |
| Create Views |
| Automatically create the
2D views of the manifold. |
| The user has the option
for placing and scaling the views on the drawing
sheet. |
| Cut & Paste
Relocate the cavity/footprint
from one face to another face of the manifold. |
| Delete Cavity |
| Automatically delete the
complete cavity/footprint. |
| All the features used
to create the cavity/footprint in SolidWorks will
be automatically deleted. |
| Design Report |
Perform connection
and wall thickness checks and automatically create a
detailed design report. |
| Draw
Block |
| Automatically draw the
manifold block in SolidWorks based on: |
| - Required manifold length,
width, and height. |
| - Required material cross
section from an existing material cross section
database, and the corresponding
length. |
| Edit Cavity |
| Change the non-intrinsic
cavity dimensions inside SolidWorks. |
| The Edit Cavity command
enables you to select a tool (drill or spot face
tool) from the tooling knowledge base. This helps
avoid the use of non-standard drills and spot
faces. |
| Edit All Parameters
| View and change all cavity
dimensions and parameters within SolidWorks. |
| The Edit All Parameters
command also enables selection of a tool (Drill
or Spot face tool) from the tooling knowledge
base. |
| Generate Machining
ID |
| Automatically generate
machining IDs for all the cavities on the manifold
based on the selected naming option. |
| Tthree naming options
are given in the ‘Generate Machining ID’
dialog box. |
| The IDs are used in the
block machining drawing and machining chart. |
| Insert Cavity |
Insert a selected
cavity/footprint from the standard cavity/footprint
library on the selected face of the manifold. |
| Insert Offset Hole
Insert an offset
drill hole into a cavity on the manifold. |
| Insert Orifice Plug
| Insert the cavity for
orifice plug at the center of cavity on the manifold. |
| MDTools automatically
updates the spot face depth of the orifice cavity
so that the cavity will start from the bottom
of the main cavity. |
| An option for merging
the orifice plug cavity with the parent cavity
is also available. |
| Machining Chart
Automatically extract
the machining data from all the cavities and create
the machining chart. |
| MDTools Settings
| Define various settings
for MDTools, e.g., Units, Net Color, Library Path,
| - Set the units to inch
or mm. |
| - Set the default color
for the nets, bolts holes, locating pinholes and
dead area |
| - Set the library path. |
| Modify Block |
Modify the manifold
block size during the manifold design process based
on the required change in manifold length, width, and
height entered; or by selection of required material
cross section from an existing material cross section
database. |
| Move Cavity |
Precisely relocate
the cavity by specifying the X and Y values from the
face origin. You can also move the cavity by entering
the delta X and delta Y values. |
| Quick Connectivity
Check |
| Check the manifold design
for: |
| - Unconnected cavities/ports
of cavities |
| - Broken nets |
| - Wrong connection inside
manifold |
| Remove Color |
Remove the shading
of cavities on the manifold. |
| Rotate Footprint
Rotate the footprint
inserted on the manifold surface. |
| Show Machining ID
Automatically display
the cavity ID near to the cavities in 2D drawing views. |
Suppress /
Un-suppress Cavities |
Suppress a cavity/footprint
or un-suppress a suppressed cavity/footprint. |
| Wall Thickness -
Get for a Cavity |
| Check the wall thickness
around a single selected cavity. |
| MDTools will check the
wall thickness between the selected cavity and
all other cavities on the manifold. |
| MDTools will list the
cavity names with the actual wall thickness in
parenthesis, if the wall thickness is less than
the specified value. |
| Wall Thickness Check
| Check the wall thickness
around all the cavities inside the manifold. |
| If the wall thickness
between the cavities is less than the minimum
required value specified then wall thickness check
will list (in parenthesis) the actual wall thickness
between the cavities next to the cavity name. |
